Our mattress is composed of multiple Phase Change Material (PCM) “candles” designed to become liquid at skin temperature.
The Phase Change Material (PCM) mattress slides into an insulating sleeve that is constructed with sturdy neoprene material that requires no attached fabric and can be easily cleaned and reused.
Once the Phase Change Material (PCM) shifts from solid to liquid, the mattress maintains 37°C temperature until it cools to the solid phase.
The mattress is heated by rolling and submerging it in boiled water, making it easy to prepare even in remote settings. The warming pad is inserted into a neoprene sleeve, which provides comfort and insulation to maximize duration of heat transfer.

Step-By-Step Instructions
Heat water to boiling (100ºC).
|
Roll Phase Change Material (PCM) mattress and put inside thermos.
|
Fill thermos with boiled water.
|
Screw on thermos lid and wait until the PCM shifts from solid to liquid (~30 min).
|
Remove Phase Change Material (PCM) mattress from thermos, dry off with towel, and slide into insulating sleeve.
|
Wait until orange temperature indicator turns solid (~15 min).

Stand Alone Heat Source
Put baby on mattress with only hat and diaper if available.
|
Wrap blanket around baby and Dream Warmer™ for added warmth.
|
Put baby in KMC position with only hat and diaper if available.
Place Dream Warmer around baby’s back. Wrap blanket around Dream Warmer™ and mother. |
